What to see in Ischia / City of Ischia - Hotel Villa Carolina
Aragonese Castle
A fundamental step is the visit of the Aragonese Castle, in byzantine style, who overhangs a rocky islet. The access is guaranteed either through a mule track or by the lift set at the end of the ‘70s. From the castle, you can admire the early Christian church from the Middle age, San Pietro a Pantanielle, and its two levels, the church and the crypt. Walking further, you can also visit two other churches, Santa Maria delle Grazie and Madonna della Libera.
The whole Castle is dominated by the dome of Immacolata’s church, inside which you can enjoy a beautiful view on the village of Ischia Ponte, also called Borgo di Celsa, because of the numerous Mulberry trees growing there.
