What to see in Ischia / City of Ischia - Hotel Villa Carolina
Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace)
This enormous private villa located on the ancient lake Lago del Bagno is property of the doctor Francesco Buonocore. It was so beautiful and majestic that it quickly became the summer residence of the Bourbon family, and was for a while inhabited by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who turned the original volcanic lake into the harbour of Ischia.
The gardens of the villa are particularly colourful and, from there, you can admire the panoramas on the harbour of Procida or the Neapolitan coast. Over the years and events, they were used as a military camp for thermal cures, in order to make better use of the properties of the thermal waters on the isle.
The story of the Royal Palace still attracts a lot of tourists, who are delighted by its magic atmosphere.
